Mobile Black spots could soon be a thing of the past

With nearly half of the people living in the United Kingdom suffering from issues making and receiving calls at home, networks are scrambling to offer solutions to the problem.

A survey from Global Wireless Solutions in which 2,000 mobile phone users across the U.K were surveyed has found 40% have blackspots at home, with most reported problems in Liverpool and Cardiff.

So what are the networks doing to resolve the issue?

O2 have committed to 98% coverage of the UK by 2017 and with investments of around £2 million each day in the network they feel they are well on track to meet the target set by Ofcom.

EE and Three are now offering a solution which allows you to use your existing broadband connection and equipment to make and receive calls plus text messages although they stipulate that it may not work with every device.

Vodafone did in the past offer a booster box which worked off the broadband connection at home but customer baulked at the cost to increase the signal for a service they are already paying for.

Delving deeper into the survey it was found that the kitchen was the most likely room in the house to get signal and that new builds after 2000 are the most difficult in which to get signal.

As we move away from being a fixed line nation the need for good connection at home has increased and now all the networks are alert to this and we shall continue to see improvements in all UK networks.
